Happy Spring! I am excited to update my blog from Sunflower Seeds to Forever Friends. My name is Allison Schley and I am a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. I founded and ran a nonprofit, called Communication Connections. The logo for our nonprofit was a gorgeous sunflower, because I believe in the amazingness that a tiny seed can grow to such a glorious flower, with love, sunlight and smiles. My blog was thus named, Sunflower Seeds.
As time passed, and life happened, I had to shut down Communication Connections. It did great things and connected many people. One thing it did was inspire me to write children's books about characters with hearing loss. I wanted children to be able to relate to the characters in the book. I also wanted to use literature to educate children with hearing about children with hearing loss.
I wrote Forever Friends and Dexter Saves the Day. Come see how hearing loss has brought a dog and a boy together in beautiful friendship at www.2foreverfriends.com. I will continue blogging here, about life, hearing loss, dogs and motivation. The blog, however, will be updated to be called Forever Friends.
Enjoy the sunshine and the hope that Spring brings!!
