I would like to share with you with my experiences at Deaf Nation 2012 in Kissimmee, Florida. I got to meet some of my old friends, made some new friends, and found some long-lost friends. I brought my daughter with me. She enjoyed meeting some of my friends, introduced herself by spelling out her name, and told a little about herself. She got to meet some of her little friends, too! Everyone was amazed by her good signing skills considering that she is only 6 years old! I felt chills throughout my body to see how motivated she has become see that she’s very interested in my culture! My sister also came along. She has become deeply involved in the deaf community for some time now and I am extremely proud of both of them for being a part in my community! I met Matt Hamill, the UFC fighter that has his own movie: “The Hamill," which is a wonderful movie. I watched several performers on the stage. It was very enjoyable and educational. My daughter was able to understand most of the show! I highly recommend this event for your hearing family members or hearing friends to learn more about your culture to help them understand your world!!!
