Many people believe that there is a plan set for each and everyone of us in our lives. I feel that there really is a purpose in my life and one main focus is to work with the Deaf community in some way. Since I was born, I have been around Deaf individual due having Deaf cousins. They have told me that since I was really young, I was always interested in learning American Sign Language and even about the culture.
My parents saw this passion in me and put me into America Sign Language (ASL) classes all the way up until I was in high school. Of course, when I was in high school I had a bit more of a choice as to whether or not I wanted to participate, and well I was wanting to learn more. I noticed my passion for it and even went to college and received my degree in ASL/Deaf Studies.
School was not the only place that I absorbed my knowledge about the Deaf culture, community and their language. In my jobs, from my first job til now, I often worked with many Deaf individuals. I was not even out seeking jobs to work with the Deaf. It was as if it was all meant to be.
Of course, then there is the time I decided I wanted to do more and created Deaf Insight. I want to educate others and bring awareness of this community, culture, and language that I have a love for. My passion continues to grow stronger as I learn more and become more and more comfortable with my skills.
My biggest passion in life is for the Lord. I don't talk often about this on Deaf Insight, but it is true and comes from my heart. Through the loss of family members and everything that has happened in my life it has strengthen my heart and faith for the Lord. I continue to learn more and more about the Word of God and also about the Deaf. That is why this opportunity I'm about to tell you about is so perfect for me!
I recently was accepted to be a part of a team to go on a Mission Trip to Guatemala, this year! Now that sounds cool and all, but it gets better! I will be going to Guatemala to work with the Deaf community to help them continue to learn their Sign Language and teach them the Gospel! Now how amazing is that? I feel that this is one of opportunities I am meant to pursue.
I am so excited to get the chance to work with the Deaf ministries and see how I can help others on this trip. It is going to be amazing and I can not wait to share my trip experience with all of you! I have one question to ask. Would you be willing to help me spread the word about my trip to work with the Deaf community in Guatemala?
Just take some time to share this blog or the link below with the people you know to help me get to Guatemala for possibly a huge life changing experience working with the Deaf community. Any small amount will help me towards this huge goal of making this trip! If you are unable to donate. I completely understand and hope you visit Deaf Insight in the future.

Could you imagine waking up one morning and walking around your town like normal only to realize people all of your town had the ability to communicate with you? A place where you don't feel closed off to the world is something many people wish for. That is what happened in the video below to Muharrem. Samsung joined up with the town and Muharrem's sister to give him just one perfect day without the barriers many Deaf and Hard of Hearing experience on a daily basis. Is this video created by Samsung a sign of a better tomorrow? How did you feel as you watched this video? Please share your thoughts in the comments below and begin a discussion with other Deaf Insight viewers!
