On monday October 22nd, while I was editing some photos, I saw an email about the new James Bond movie. I am a Bond fan and I like Daniel Craig, "Casino Royale" is one of my favorite so far. I opened the email and thankfully did not have anymore tea in my cup because the email wrote print out the mail, come to the cinema and see "Skyfall" at VIP Galla opening night on Wednesday."
Now, sometimes things are too good to be true so I called the cinema ticket to check if it wasn't spam mail or early trick'n'treat trick. Unfortunately, the ticket office had no clue what I was talking about and asked me to email a copy of the letter to another person in charge of the event. I gave them my cell phone number so they could call me back. Sure enough about an hour later she called me back and told me to do what it said in the email and that it was good enough. I looked at the clock and it was around 5:30pm. I literally ran down to the train station and made it just in good time.
An event like this literally is a mission worthy of James Bond to "try" to get into. Again if you're not a celeb, no someone in the know, or any corner at all, the cinema door is totally a no-go area at all. At first I did debate if I wanted to go, when I looked at the prize of the ticket which is 4 times more than what you pay for an evening like this and that's when another bell chimed in my head. The British Embassy is co-hosting this event, the money raised at this event would go to a benefit . I began to think of another option and it was one that even James Bond would find rather hard figure out. Who was the surprise guest to come to this event? I am hoping for Daniel Craig himself to come, then again if he was to be the surprise gust I would be comatose afterwards, well for a few days afterwards.
Wednesday arrived, I got my hair done, and then waited another 6 hours before I had to be in there at the cinema at 9:30pm. On the same day I had also gotten back to the lady about the tickets asking her if I could take photos in there as well. The answer was no due to the tight security in there. Even though she said no to taking photos I packed my camera as I was packing my backpack with clothes. I was so eager to go to event and went all set up for the movie.
Outside the cinema quite a few others were waiting and even though I have been to a few VIP gala opening, this was the first one I attended where there was a dress code due to the attending from the Danish Royal family and the British Embassy. It turned out to be Prince Joakim the younger brother of our Crownprince Frederik with his wife joined to watch the movie. Like I mentioned above I had hoped for Daniel Craig or someone from the movie, alas no-one but the movie was there.
I found out the reason for the security, as we got to see the movie before USA. "Skyfall" isn't going to be released until November 9th so I could understand the security. There were guards with machinery to spot any camera's or cell phone that would be tuned on. They could take out the person if they found one in there recording the movie.
As I had first followed the rules and given in my backpack at the improvised closet by the ticket lounge, got inside the bigger lobby where to my surprise I saw quite a few taking out their camera's and cell phones clicking away. Then thinking better of it, I went back to get my camera and managed to get a few photos just before we got called inside to screen the movie.
Overall I can say that yo should go see "Skyfall" if you like James Bond :-)
