My name is Ditte Broens, 37 years old, born hard of hearing, know a few signs including the hand alphabet but don’t use them in my daily life. I am from Denmark and live in a small town about 30 minutes by train from Copenhagen, called Virum. I am educated office assistant from the local city hall and have worked in different areas of both the local city hall and the government. At this moment I am out of work, but am using the time looking for a new job to work on getting out with my photography, which proves just as hard as looking for a job.
I like to travel around and have been to several countries including Spain, Africa, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Greece, United Kingdom and have been twice to California, USA. I am going to see if I can go to New York one day soon.
Books are a good friend to me and every now and then you will find me reading a book, preferably over 500 pages. I read them sometimes in Danish but most of the time in English to maintain my English reading. Movies and TV shows do play a good part in my life. I like to go to the cinema. Sometimes if I’m lucky and catch news I try and attend Gala openings of the big movies like Harry Potter, Twilight, or when Bradley Cooper stopped by when “Limited” opened in Copenhagen.
In general I am a quiet woman / photographer and do get to see a few things every now and then. I hope with my blog on Deaf Insight, I can tell of my life here in Denmark, both via my photos as well writing. I may share when I’ve been on a Danish movie or television set, having a walk in the nature with photos, or how I handle times when the hearing aid just won’t work.
