Hello, I thought I would explain about a typical TinyTalk baby signing session and why lots of families love bringing the children to our classes here in the UK.
We teach some core signs each week which are words that are very important for a baby to learn and use in early life.
It is advised to start with a few signs and also to concentrate on the core signs learned that week although we have extra signs for those parents that have come to previous terms.
The lesson plan is set out and Katie Mayne our founder who was a teacher of the deaf and also a primary School teacher before having children of her own has made sure all lesson plans are of top quality. At the end of a session all parents should go home knowing all the core signs as the lessons revolve around the signs as well as having visual aids such as props to help families remember. We will sing lots of nursery rhymes and action songs through out as well as helping the children develop other areas such as muscle development as well as language development and communication skills and sensory.
Social time at TinyTalk, the hard bit over and its time to chat.
The latter part of the sessions involve instruments specially for little hands, this is the time little ones can just shake rattle and roll but parents can continue to learn the signs We feel that news time is very important and also presenting those important certificates of a babies first sign, five signs or even a hundred signs wow but they do get there it is amazing.
After the main session our families have social time and they enjoy chatting having a cuppa and the babies love to play.
We have over 60 songs that we sing at the sessions so parents re learn all these songs and the children go on to learn songs at school with ease I know this as teachers commented on my Azad and how fast he learns new songs.
Baby signing is truly a fantastic thing and I know you may not be able to get to a class but do learn those nursery rhymes and action songs, learn the sign language system for where you live and make it fun. For those starter signs you can sing songs such as 'this is the way we drink out milk' Incy Wincy Spider is great for the weather signs. Also signed stories which we also cover in classes every 3rd week.
If you have any questions at all please do ask me and I will certainly answer them.
