This week we have a special treat, my friend and colleague has provided us with a guest blog. How wonderful.! Please welcome Jemma Lambe and her first ever blog and so well written too.
Hello, my name’s Jemma and I’m a Teacher for TinyTalk Baby Signing along with being a Special Needs Support Teacher for a local county council where I teach children with a range of Special Educational Needs across the primary phase and support schools through training and advisory work. I use Makaton and BSL on a daily basis to support and encourage communication, speech and language skills.
Being asked to write a ‘guest blog’ for the TinyTalk Baby Blog, I thought long and hard about particular subjects and topics of interest; then it dawned on me that most people often just want to know the basics, the bread and butter of signing! I’m regularly asked by parents of children that are pre-verbal or through baby signing classes ‘What works well?’ and ‘How can I encourage my child to sign?’; so with those thoughts in mind, I hope to discuss some of the ‘top tips’ for baby signing that may support your signing journey, so here’s your starter for 5:
I am a mother of 4, teach baby signing and also BSL level 2 qualified, love TKD and much more.
